Swanwick
Swanwick has a fabulous Marina, where you will find a number of eating and drinking establishments to try, but if you’d like to stretch your legs a little more you can take a stroll out to the nearby riverside public footpath, which leads to the costal pathway offering miles of scenic river and coastal walks.
Swanwick is a village in Hampshire, England, east of the River Hamble The village is located within the borough of Fareham and is the site of the London Area Control Centre (LACC) and the London Terminal Control Centre (LTCC), part of National Air Traffic Services Air Traffic Control Centre. Swanwick is also home to Bursledon Brickworks, the last remaining example of a Victorian steam-powered brickworks.
Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve is a site of nature conservation interest and offers many scenic woodland walks. The nature reserve is an area of about 80 acres, that was formed from clay pit excavations. Owned by NATS, the site is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
The village’s “twin” Lower Swanwick is situated two miles west of the village on the edge of the River Hamble. At the nearby Swanwick Marina, you will find eating and drinking establishments, but if you would like to stretch your legs a little more you can take a stroll out to the nearby riverside public footpath, which leads to the costal pathway offering miles of scenic river and coastal walks.
Swanwick railway station on the West Coastway Line is approximately one mile south of the village. Buses run from outside Swanwick Marina to both Southampton and Portsmouth City Centres. The M27 motorway is approximately 2 miles from Swanwick Marina.
